Chasing Rabbits...and Pretending to be Profound

So, I'm sitting in Bongo Java drinking a "Mochahontas" and pretending to blog. I think I'm just a sucker for the coffee shop/artsy atmosphere. I want to be writing something incredibly profound, something that moves you, something that speaks to me.

...But I've got nothing.
Here's a little about me in the form of "chasing a rabbit." In reference to coffee shops, there's not much in the world that I love more. I love watching the people scattered around the room chatting it up, reading, or writing their thesis or a new song. There is such a laid-back productivity buzzing in the room. Coffee shops are also my favorite place to hear stories, which are ranked right up there with coffee shops on things that I love. This week, my roommate, Katie, even convinced me to go to Bongo Java way after my normal bedtime on a work night because we were #1 going to a coffee shop and #2 our friend Stephen promised to tell me stories. I was hooked.

I wish I could hear a story from every person in this coffee shop, except it would be quite creepy for me to go sit down at every table and ask for a story from the unsuspecting coffee drinker's past. It would be so cool to hear what one thing they would share and to learn from their life experiences. If someone sat down at my table and asked me to tell a story, which one would I share? I certainly hope I would talk about the change the Lord has performed in my life and how He's been my Provider, Comforter, and Strong Tower so many times. I want the story God is writing into my life to be the rabbit I tend to chase when I have the opportunity to verbally do so in the company of others, but I can't always say that is true.

What rabbit do you tend to chase?

You should go one Saturday and just talk to people all day, then blog about the stories you encounter. It would probably surprise you.

If you did that over an extended period of time, you could make an amazing book. Just sayin. Glad to see you are enjoying Nashville.

I once had the idea to write a book based on random things I overheard from people's conversations as I walked around. It was going to be called "The Word on the Street". Unfortunately, someone already took that title for a Bible paraphrase (by the way, it is nothing like the actual Bible).

I'm going to be really honest and say I love those ideas. I may just steal them...maybe a new blog will be added soon about my conversational adventures at Bongo Java!
